⇧ SECTION LISTING

Keep me safe from hostile souls
They smile with smooth enamour
And speak to claim the fame of love
But make me question any self-respect
They sneak inside and snow on high parades
And leave me crawling, scraping up that heart
From the heights of unholiest charity enemies host
They hide in virtuous veils of lawful candour
The truth of treachery, as tastes of hate
Callous coats of candy cannot camouflage
Desperate designers of disaster in disguise!
It takes a blessed might to shed a light on shadows
Those we speak about, alas,
Train their souls to woo the devil
Busy to hack their own, albeit neglected, hearts
Such a disease, in effect, calls for spirits alien to spite
For their mistake is a message to moralists likened to me
It warns whatever wisdom we’re endowed a little with
Against the cheek it is to chastise comrades of malice
In lengths of lines and lapses of beauty we cannot believe
When the author tries to make a jaded heart akin to piety
