From the Nile to Orion

⇧ SECTION LISTING

In search of friends was I, a lonesome lion
But I began some lines in foreign tongues
With verses I would voice beyond Orion
Addressed to souls alert to saddest songs

Could I convey a life to any star
To gods that were before Egyptian kings
Amid the pyramids that stand afar
But dwell today away from Saturn’s rings?

They must recall the heart of humankind
To whom they taught Osiris’ fate on earth
When Isis roamed the Nile with maddened mind
Redeeming love from Kemet’s river’s firth

Akin to Horus, born from deltas’ flows,
It’s up to me to fill papyrus staves
Or stones with shapes of hieroglyphs in rows
And wait for gods to come and read my grave.
