Beauty herself shall write the raptured word
That’s worth the maid remembered up till now
To celebrate what seems to sullen souls absurd
A mad romance beyond a faithful vow
What’s there to see except an older fool
A man who moans and miaows in maudlin moods
He’d aim at quondam dreams all doomed to pule
And lament lonesome hearts that love eludes
A wiser man would mock those whims away
For after all there’s nothing new you know
A love you pray, a love to stay, a love astray
We’re all so close to bliss but learn to grow
Or so they say, the hearts that feed a ghoul
They laugh at love, at me, with jaded joys
But I rebuke their rants that ridicule
A sad romance their failing faith destroys
Leave him to write while beauty’s still allowed
A time will come indeed when love’s denied
A face to praise aloud, the grace to bless the crowd
The end of times when He is crucified
